Create A Guide
Workstreamer Guide allows you to create a guide in two ways. You can make a guide by uploading images or screenshots. Second, you can make a guide using the Workstreamer Guide Extension.
Create a Guide from Uploads
Below are the steps to create a guide using uploads:
Open the Workstreamer guide website in a browser of your choice.
Sign into your account using the Sign in button.
Note: Workstreamer Guide sends a sign-in link to your email to complete the sign-in process as you did when signing up. On the redirect page, click on the “Click here to log in now” button to complete the sign-up process before the redirect countdown reaches zero.
- Click on the Dashboard menu option to open your dashboard.
- On the dashboard page, click “Create” and select the “Create guide from Uploads” option.
- On the canvas page, click on the “Add Slide” icon (as shown in the image below) on the top-left side of the canvas to upload an image or more.
Create a Guide using the Extension
Below are the steps to create a guide using the Workstreamer Guide extension:
Click open the Workstreamer Guide extension.
Sign into your account using the Sign-up button.
Note: Workstreamer Guide sends a sign-in link to your email to complete the sign-in process as you did when signing up. On the redirect page, click on the “Click here to log in now” button to complete the sign-up process before the redirect countdown reaches zero.
Visit the website from which you want to capture screenshots for the guide.
Next, click the Workstreamer Guide Extension to open the extension modal.
Click the “Start Recording” button.
- Click on any part of the active page to take a screenshot.
- To take more screenshots, navigate to other pages and click on any part of the active page.
Note: The extension provides information on the number of screenshots you have taken and how many guides you have created.
- To stop recording, open the extension and click the “Stop Recording” button.
Edit a Guide
After creating a guide, the next step is to edit the guide and make it usable. Once you finish recording using the extension, the system automatically redirects you to the editing canvas. Below, we will cover features provided to enable you to improve guides.
Using the Hotspot Icon
The Hotspot icon is designed to appear on the specific spot on the page clicked to take the screenshot. The hotspot provides interactivity that allows for easy navigation from one slide to the next.
Edit Hotspot
You can modify the default “click here” hotspot text, the color, and its position. To modify these details, click on the edit icon in the widget as shown in the image below.
Edit Design
You can also change the design of the Hotspot icon. Here are the steps below:
Click on the “Design” option on the canvas menu bar.
Select Hotspot from the menus.
Select a different option as shown in the image above.
Click “Save” to save changes.
Add Blur
You can blur unwanted content from screenshots. Follow the steps below to blur unwanted content:
Select the Blur option from the canvas menu bar.
Click and drag the cursor over the desired section to blur it as shown in the image below.
Add Annotation
You can annotate important content to point the audience to pay attention to them. Follow the steps below to annotate a guide:
Select the Annotations option from the canvas menu bar.
Click and drag the cursor over the desired section to annotate it, as shown in the image below.
Edit Design
You can edit the layout of a guide by modifying the widget, hotspot, and progress bar components. To edit the design, click the “Design” option in the canvas menu bar.
Widget
The widget is a control block designed to assist in navigating your guide from one slide to the next. The Workstreamer Guide provides you with four widget design options to use in your guides.
To change your widget design:
Click on the “Design” option on the canvas menu bar.
Select a different option as shown in the image above.
Click “Save” to save changes.
Hotspot
Refer to the Using the Hotspot Icon section to learn more about the Hotspot icon.
Progress Bar
The progress bar helps your guide users know how much progress they’ve made using your guide. You can select the design option that best suits your guide.
To select a different progress bar design, follow the guide below:
Click on the “Design” option on the canvas menu bar.
Select Progress Bar from the menus.
Select a different option as shown in the image above.
Click “Save” to save changes.
Other
You can also select other design options like disabling the progress bar or adding a browser navigation bar.
Change Slide Ordering
You can also change the ordering of your guide slides. Reorder the slides by dragging and dropping them up or down.
Using Autoplay
Set the time lapse between guide slides using Autoplay. When exporting a guide as a video, Autoplay also adjusts the timing between slides. Follow the steps to edit the time interval between slides:
In the canvas menu bar, click the “Autoplay” option.
Toggle on “Autoplay” in the pop-up modal.
Set a time interval in seconds.
Note: The minimum is 3 seconds, and the maximum is 30 seconds. You can also set a time interval for each slide by clicking the “Next” button as shown in the image below and setting a different interval for each slide.
Click “Save” to save changes.
Publish a Guide
To publish a guide, follow the steps below:
In the canvas menu bar, click the “Share” option.
Select “Public” or “Secure”.
If “Secure”, set a password for the guide.

Share a Guide
To share a guide, follow the steps below:
In the canvas menu bar, click the “Share” option.
Select “Public” or “Secure”.
If “Secure”, set a password for the guide.
Share the guide using the link, embed, video, or Word doc option.
Note: You can also preview the guide by clicking on the “Video” option in the menu bar.
Preview a Guide
To preview a guide, follow the steps below:
In the canvas menu bar, click the “Share” option.
Select “Public” or “Secure”.
If “Secure”, set a password for the guide.
Next, click the “Preview” option to preview the guide.
Note: You can also preview the guide by clicking on the “Video” option in the menu bar.
Managing Guides
Workstreamer Guide provides functionalities for managing your training guides in a user-friendly manner.
Creating Spaces
Create spaces to group related guides together for better organization. Follow the steps below to create spaces for your guides:
On the dashboard page, click “Create” and select the “Create Space” option.
Enter the title and description of the space.
Click the Save button to save the Space and automatically navigate to the Space page.
On the Space page, click the “Add New Section” button to add a section.
Enter a “Section Title” to create a new section.
Select guides to be added to the section.
Note: Please note that you can only add published guides.
Click the Add button to save changes.
Click the Cancel button to close the modal.
Publish a Space
Only you can view a space until you make it public. To publish a space, toggle the icon on the top-right of the screen as shown in the image below.
Next, when the space becomes public, you can share or preview the space using the Share or Preview button on the canvas menu bar.
Using Analytics
The Analytics tab offers insights on user interactivity with your guides. Insights include unique visitors, page views, bounce rate, sessions, average session durations, and more.
The Analytics tab also offers information on the specific country and locations of your users, their operating systems, platforms, browsers, and screen resolutions. These insights can help you identify your most effective guides. It also helps you better optimize your guide for specific platforms and browsers to capture more users.
Settings
Set default global settings for your guides using the Settings tab. In the Settings tab, you can set the default widget, progress bar, autoplay, hotspot, widget color, and text color. To save changes, Click Save.
